Welcome to my Blog

You may be familiar with my previous website, Textual Creations, and my related news blog. You may also be aware that I closed Textual Creation in the last months of 2023 and removed the website. It had served its purpose since 2004, but due to the closure of the business and my waning interest, it was time to move on. That said, I found myself at loose ends and bouncing from one activity to another, trying to fill the void with things I had done in the past, such as pencil drawing. Having lost all my drawing abilities due to non use over the years I found it a painful experience that I did not want to spend time with and try to relearn it. All it took was a few eraser marks and smudges on the paper to remember why I dropped it back in the early 2000’s when I discovered CAD. Thinking that I still might want to draw, I decided to try digital drawing. After I installed Sketchbook Pro, I dug out the ancient bamboo tablet that I had purchased years ago and gave that a whirl. Again, I was reminded why that device had been parked in the closet since early days. Drawing on a small tablet while watching the outcome on the screen was just as painful as I remembered. The next option was to dig out the old surface table I had bought many years ago with the intent of using it to draw digitally. At least this was somewhat like drawing with a pencil on paper, in that the pen was on the surface of where I was drawing. Once again, I was reminded of why this was not to be a viable option for me. The surface tablet is so slow in all aspects of use and the feel of the pen on the tablet is nothing like it is with a pencil and paper. As before, when I tried it years ago, I just couldn’t see myself trying to adapt to this format. Perhaps, in the end, this drawing thing was just an attempt to revisit the past, and that is not something I want to do. Where to go, I thought….

As you may also know, I recently finished writing a book of memoirs and have had some very nice feedback from the family members that have read it.

My younger brother said that he loved reading the book and suggested that I write more. He suggested that I share stories of my various adventures, including things like the day trips I wrote about in my latest book and any of the other things that I have spent time within the realm of creativity. I thought that this was a great idea, and decided then and there that I would create a new website blog that focuses on this, and more. Let’s see, together, what comes of it.

  1. Hi Don. Are your previously availabel TurboCAD tutorials still available? I have your boring bar one and would like more…..

    1. Hi Glenn, I am sorry but I shut down my tutorial business. The tutorials and the mechanisms for selling and sharing them went too, when I did that. Sorry to disappoint.

        1. Hi Glenn, As per the copyright agreement when purchased, the tutorials are not to be shared. I’d prefer if folks respected that. I know you don’t want to hear that and I am sorry. Perhaps you could just work through the one you have as a refresher, and then ask questions on the TurboCAD User Forum for extra help when you are working on your future projects.

          1. I will respect the Copyright. Very much a shame that I cannot purchase more tutorials as I find the one I have (Boring Bar) to be excellent.

    1. Hi Dave,
I am afraid that my Textual Creations business is closed and I no long produce or sell tutorials. All aspects of the business have been shut down, so I no longer offer the previous tutorials at all. Sorry if that is disappointing.
